Privacy Policy

Tonal Learning ("we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices — especially during our beta period.

What we collect

• Account data: email address, authentication credentials, age confirmation, and profile fields you provide (name, pronouns, learning motivation).
• Learning data: session transcripts, progress signals, vocabulary exposure, and engagement metrics used to personalize tutoring.
• Technical data: logs needed for security, abuse prevention, and reliability (IP-based rate limits, error logs).

How we use data

• Deliver and personalize AI tutoring (Lexi and Lumi).
• Maintain your account and learning progress.
• Protect the service from abuse and unauthorized access.
• Improve the product using aggregated, anonymized metrics.

We do not sell your personal data.

Research participation

With your explicit opt-in, we may collect anonymized learning interaction metrics (counts, durations, engagement flags). We do not store raw chat text in research datasets.

Beta exclusion: During the beta period, learners are not included in research writeups regardless of consent preference. Research opt-in controls unlock after beta ends; your onboarding choice is saved for then.

Memory and tutors

Lexi remembers what you share across sessions by default (motivation, patterns, session arcs) so conversations feel continuous. You can turn memory off in Settings — Lexi then uses only the current session and vocabulary context, and stored personal notes are cleared.

Lumi still tracks which words you have been exposed to when memory is off — without storing personal facts in learner memory.

Processors

We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, AI model APIs, text-to- speech) that process data only to operate the service. Provider keys and system prompts stay server-side.

Retention & rights

We retain account and learning data while your account is active. You may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting ty.bennett@tonallearning.com.

Children

Tonal Learning is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
